Context

Internal venture at Highline Beta — designed to solve repeated go-to-market failures

01. Context & Spark

As a VC and venture studio, Highline Beta often helps founders build products from 0 → 1, and then launch them into the market.

But our pattern was clear: we consistently underperformed at go-to-market. no matter how strong the product, our launch motion rarely matched the quality of our build.

Why Build an AI Influencer?

"If a single founder with a few AI tools could create a working TikTok engine… what would it look like if we built a systematic, reusable 'AI influencer machine'?"

Around this time, one of our portfolio founders created an AI-powered TikTok account. In just two weeks, that account attracted ~200 followers organically. It wasn’t explosive growth—but it was repeatable and cheap.

That became the seed for this project. I started by treating it as an internal experiment: first “AI Influencer”, then evolving it into GenMatrix – a scalable system for multi-channel AI-powered content.

Why Build an AI Influencer?

02. Problem — AI Isn’t Magic, It’s Manual + Messy

“How do you run a system that can reliably produce, remix, and post content across multiple channels, without an in-house content team?”

When I zoomed out from our own ventures and spoke with SMB owners and solo founders, I heard the same story: They knew AI video and avatars were promising, but they had no time or expertise to stitch together all the tools.

Real Problem: AI Isn’t Magic Yet

Fragmented Tools

Content creation is fragmented across 3–6 tools (script, avatar, editing, scheduling).

Volume Gap

Getting traction requires 1–5 videos per day per channel, not “one good video a week”.

03. Phase I — Building the AI Influencer Machine

I was lucky to convince a client to let me start with a single, concrete use case: a TikTok account for a music school, publishing short, educational and promo content using AI avatars.

01. Pipeline Mapping

Mapped the end-to-end pipeline in FigJam – Ideation → scripting → avatar generation → B-roll / stock → editing → posting → analytics.

FigJam Pipeline

02. Tool Orchestration

Stitched together existing tools for script generation (LLMs), avatar videos, captioning, and scheduling.

03. Unit Economics

Calculated the unit economics per 30-second video, proving we could automate almost the entire workflow for $1–2 per video.

04. Insight — One Channel Isn’t a Strategy

After a few months of running AI influencer experiments, the data was sobering:

3
Months
81
Videos
66
Followers
5
Leads
1
Conversion

In isolation, each video was “fine” — usually 100–300 views — but it rarely broke out. One account. One avatar. One style. Each video fighting the algorithm alone.

04. The Turning Point — Learning From China’s Content Ecosystem

At this stage, I wasn’t satisfied with the performance of our AI influencer experiments. So I went back to China and spent time studying how creators, MCNs, and AI tool operators were actually running content at scale.

In China, the strategy is not: “Make one video, try to get 100k views.” Instead, the strategy is: Run many small accounts, each posting high-frequency content — and let volume create exposure.

“Rather than chasing 100k views on one video, I could engineer the same reach using many coordinated small channels.”

This insight reframed everything: AI Influencer became GenMatrix — from a single “influencer tool” into a content matrix system designed for multi-account, multi-persona operations.

05. Defining GenMatrix — The Content Matrix System

GenMatrix is an AI-powered content matrix that runs dozens of influencer-style accounts for you, across multiple platforms, from one control panel.

Approach

Semi-automated, customizable due to potential risk of AI bias

Design

Multi-account and multi-channels by design

GenMatrix Architecture

06. Key Features

01. Multi-channel Control

Unified Dashboard

Connect and manage multiple social accounts (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) from one dashboard. Centralized view of scripts, videos, and scheduled posts.

Dashboard UI

02. Copy & Script Engine

Batch Variants

Generate and store batch script variants. Quickly localize or retone scripts for different audiences and platforms with performance tracking.

Copy Library UI

03. Video Generation Matrix

5 Content Pillars

Supports Pure AI digital humans, multi-model AI video, local remixing, hybrid formats, and empathy-driven posts for a natural digital footprint.

04. Scheduling & Distribution

Automated Staggering

Batch schedule variants and automatically stagger posting times to reduce content collision. Track views, engagement, and clicks per variant.

07. Content Variation — Simulating Human Behavior

“Avoiding the 'AI Scent' — Engineering variety to beat the algorithm.”

The biggest risk for AI-powered accounts is repetitive content patterns. If every video uses the same avatar and the same lighting, the algorithm eventually flags it as bot behavior, and viewers experience "digital fatigue."

To solve this, GenMatrix's core engine calls different generation modes to simulate a real user's posting frequency and variety:

Mode 1

Pure AI Digital Clone of the Client

Mode 2

Multi-Model AI Video (Veo3/Kling/Sora/Free Stock)

Mode 3

Remixing of existing real contents

Mode 4

Hybrid format - remix of real content + AI

“By rotating these 5 modes, GenMatrix creates a 'human-like' digital footprint, making it nearly impossible for recommendation algorithms to shadowban the content for lack of originality.”

08. Business Model — Designed for Predictable Output

Rather than selling “AI access,” GenMatrix monetizes repeatable growth capability.

Pricing

$400 / month / account

Terms

Minimum 3-month commitment + minimum posting frequency

“Done-for-you infrastructure.”

GenMatrix sits strategically between traditional agencies (expensive, manual) and SaaS creator tools (cheap, DIY, overwhelming). We provide the capability without the overhead or the steep learning curve.

Optional upsells for paid ads, creative customization, and performance-based bonuses.
